A 13-year-old girl was sexually assaulted at a Horley bus stop last night.
Detectives from East Surrey CID are appealing for witnesses after the schoolgirl was touched inappropriately, at around 5.15pm on Wednesday. The victim was waiting for a bus near to the old BT building on Victoria Road and was approached by a man.
He grabbed her before kissing one of her hands and attempting to kiss her again on the cheek.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Kerry Akehurst, said: "This was a deeply upsetting incident for the girl involved and although we have spoken to several witnesses already I would urge anyone else who saw anything suspicious to contact officers with information.
"We believe there were other people in the vicinity that may have not realised what they were witnessing and I would appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time of the offence to contact police immediately as they may hold information vital to the investigation."
Local officers from the Reigate and Banstead Safer Neighbourhood Team are assisting detectives with their investigation.
A man in his 40s has been arrested in connection with this incident and is currently in police custody.
