Bletchingley Golf Club is more than just a friendly and pleasant place to enjoy a round of golf – it's also a perfect venue for a party, function or business meeting.
"We're open to any type of celebration or any kind of business," says Steven Cookson, Bletchingley's Golf Manager. "And we have some good deals for people wanting to hold a function here."
First of all, if you book a party, function or wedding reception at the club, and quote Surrey Mirror, you will get 50% off the room hire charges.
Bletchingley also has a very smart wedding package. "Our function room seats up to 120 guests, and can accommodate a buffet for 180," says Steve.
"And it's the gateway to a host of special deals for various wedding services that could save the happy couple around £400 – such as 15% off the wedding cake, and other discounts for a hair and beauty, a DJ and wedding photography," says Steven. "Christening parties also gain a 33% discount on the room hire charge, and discounts from menus and from the pastry chef for the cake."
Corporate business is another reason to hire the function room – the facilities are ideal for meetings, presentations, seminars and networking sessions. The function rooms have Wi-fi and can accommodate audio-visual equipment – and for smaller meetings, a second function room, the Grand Slam Bar can seat 50 people.
Many local groups and societies use Bletchingley Golf Club as a focal point, and Steven notes that this trend is rising. "We run yoga sessions every Tuesday, and classes for blind and partially sighted people in conjunction with SAVI, the Surrey Association for Visual Impairment.
"We do get a lot of Ramblers here- they have made it a meeting-place and they enjoy our cream teas," he says. "And recently, a large cycling club had a race and used the golf club as their start and finish point. They hired the function room to give the competitors a good send-off, and for everyone to celebrate after the race."
Bletchingley Golf Club is open seven days a week to members, societies and visitors, with over 400 members and over 80 participants in a revolutionary new flexible membership scheme. "We have some good deals in the offing," says Steven. "This June, we are offering 15 months of membership for the price of 12 – and we are negotiable for larger groups."
In any case, visitors are always welcome to enjoy the club's afternoon teas, or book up for their Sunday lunches. And plans are afoot now for Christmas 2013: a series of party nights in December with disco and DJ will be available.
