THIEVES made off with silverware and cash after they broke into a Hurst Green church.
The break-in occurred between May 5 and May at St Silvans Church on Red Lane.
A number of items were stolen include two silver wine cups, silver crockery and £20 in cash.
Around £30 worth of damage was also cause to a window where the thieves smashed a window to gain access to the church.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Jo Clarke from East Surrey CID, said: "Stealing from a church is appalling and we will do all we can to find those responsible and bring them to justice."
Local officers from the Tandridge Safer Neighbourhood Team will be assisting detectives with their investigation by carrying out enquiries in the local area.
DC Clarke added: "I would appeal to anyone who has either seen something suspicious around the time the burglary took place or who has been offered such items for sale to contact officers with information."
