INSPIRED by a visit to a world famous gallery, students at a Bookham school have created their own spontaneous work of art.

Year 8 girls from Manor House School visited London's Tate Modern to view an exhibition of work by influential pop artist Roy Lichtenstein, as well as other permanent exhibits in the gallery, and were encouraged to sketch their favourite pieces.

But before leaving the former Bankside power station, the girls took the opportunity to arrange themselves on the floor in an installation area in the famous Turbine Hall, spelling out the word TATE with their bodies.

Trip organiser Sylvie Parsons said members of the public joined in with the impromptu project from the balcony above, assisting with the arrangement.

Mrs Parsons said: "When the girls had finally assembled themselves correctly, the public applauded and took photos. It was a lovely way to end the trip."
