Nearly 3,000 people in Mole Valley face losing their tax credit payments if they do not renew them by the end of July.
HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has started sending renewal packs to more than 40,000 Surrey residents who stand to lose payments from the Government – such as those who receive money because they have a child aged under 16.
Claimants must tell HMRC about any changes to their circumstances such as changes to working hours, childcare costs or pay.
HMRC's director of benefits and credits, Nick Lodge, said: "Our message to people in Surrey is renew early, renew accurately and renew on time."
