A MAN has been arrested in connection with an indecent exposure near a children's play area in Caterham. The offence occurred around 1pm on Wednesday, April 24 near the children's play area on Stafford Rise when a woman noticed a man indecently exposing himself. The man quickly left the scene when he noticed the woman had spotted him. Investigating officer Detective Constable Ian Cherrington from East Surrey CID, said: "This was an upsetting incident for the woman who witnessed it while she was visiting the play area with her granddaughter and therefore I would appeal to anyone who has information on this offence to contact Surrey Police as a matter of urgency. "Fortunately it is believed that no children witnessed the indecent act but it is concerning that this incident took place in close proximity to a play area and we need to find the person responsible." Local officers from the Tandridge Safer Neighbourhood Team have been carrying out enquiries in the area to assist detectives with their investigation. A man in his 30s from Caterham was arrested on Tuesday, April 30, in connection with this offence and has been released on police bail until Wednesday, 22 April while the investigation continues. Anyone who has information on this offence or who witnessed anything suspicious around the time it took place is urged to contact Surrey Police on 101 quoting reference TD/13/1909 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
