DORKING scored an important victory at Farnham Town tonight (Thursday) to aid their quest for survival in the Combined Counties League Premier Division.
The Chicks visited Farnham for the rescheduled fixture, after the original match was abandoned at half time back in February following a melee that started when Dorking striker Reece Jackson was attacked by a member of the crowd, with the Chicks leading 2-0.
But Jackson scored both goals this evening as the Chicks won by the same scoreline, giving them a boost in their bid to avoid the drop.
However, results elsewhere did not go in the Chicks' favour, with fellow strugglers Hartley Wintney winning 2-1 against South Park, who Dorking face on Saturday.
That result keeps Hartley Wintney four points ahead of Dorking, who are still five points from safety with four games to play.
Meanwhile, Sandhurst Town picked up a point in a 1-1 draw with Horley Town, although Dorking are now two points ahead of them at the bottom of the table.
Elsewhere, Dorking Wanderers lost 1-0 at home to Hailsham Town in the Sussex County League Division One, while Lingfield were 2-0 winners at home to Sidley United, with Danny Oakins netting both goals for Dixie Dean's side.
