LEATHERHEAD continued their push for the play-offs with a comfortable 3-1 win away at Walton & Hersham on Saturday.
Two first half goals from Tommy Hutchings and an early second-half solo effort from Elliott Thompson gave the Tanners a much deserved victory.
Tony Reid pulled one back with 25 minutes to go but it proved to be nothing more than consolation for the Swans.
Leatherhead started brightly and were quickly rewarded in the fifth minute when Hutchings side-footed the ball past goalkeeper Chris Manderson from a tight angle after Tom Bradbrook's through ball.
The Tanners continued to have the better of the half and even when the Swans were able to get forward, centre-halves Jerry Nnamani and Chris Boulter helped hold a strong defensive line.
Sam Blackman also worked tirelessly in midfield to break up any of the home side's play.
The creators of the first goal combined again after 28 minutes when Bradbrook burst down the right wing, putting in a low cross with Hutchings latching on to score from three yards out.
The home side began the second half with urgency, looking to pull back the Tanners' two-goal advantage.
However, a counterattack led to the third and crucial goal. The Swans left a lot of space following a corner allowing Thompson to collect the ball and run at their remaining defenders.
With Bradbrook available to his right he had the confidence to score from 20 yards into the bottom corner of the net and put his side in an unassailable lead.
The Swans continued to increase the pressure, and scored through Reid after he was put through by Peter Martin in the 65th minute.
However, this proved in vain as the Swans tired and Leatherhead dominated the closing phases of the match.
