A CHARITY gig to remember a much-missed friend takes place this weekend.
David Staff, 28, has arranged the event to raise money in memory of his friend Ben Harrington, 32, from Reigate, who died in Thailand last August when his rented moped crashed.
The Ben Harrington Memorial Gig takes place in Salfords Village Hall on Saturday from 7pm.
Mr Staff, of Shirley Avenue, Redhill, will headline with his band The King Zoots, who recently released their debut single.
"Ben's travel insurance was void because he wasn't wearing a helmet when he crashed so it cost thousands of pounds to get him back, and he didn't have any life insurance, so it was a bit of a nightmare," he said. "We are just trying to fundraise to put some money towards that, or maybe a headstone."
He added: "Everyone is getting on, but it is difficult. It is still very early days.
"There will be a lot of people at the gig who knew Ben, it will be a great night, we're really looking forward to it."
The other acts playing are Penny For The Workhouse and Fred Bullock and James McKenzie.
Tickets are £5 and available on the door, from band members or by calling Mr Staff on 07752 050985. For more information, go to www.thekingzoots.com
