SNOW swept across East Surrey again at the weekend turning beauty spots into winter playgrounds just a week before April.
Most roads were passable with care but at Lower Kingswood, a car collided with a lamppost after skidding on the A217 opposite Blackhorse Lane.
An inch of snow fell on the North Downs on Saturday and particularly affected Warlingham, Caterham, Banstead, Kingswood and Tadworth. A fresh half-inch of snow fell early on Sunday, with further flurries during the day.
Bitterly cold easterly winds led to exceptionally cold conditions on both Saturday and Sunday, but many people still ventured out to enjoy walks on the snow-covered hills and heathland.
The 75th annual Sunbeam pioneer motorcycle run, due to take place on Sunday, was cancelled after the organisers faced blizzard-like conditions on Saturday at Epsom Downs while deciding whether to hold the event.
The popular Caterham Easter Bunny Fun Run for St Catherine's Hospice was also called off on Sunday.
The main organisers, Caterham Rotary Club, said in a statement: "We will try to rearrange the runs on a Sunday soon."
Some of the coldest conditions occurred in the Caterham on the Hill area.
Surrey meteorologist Ian Currie said: "It has been the coldest March in Surrey since 1970."
