TWO burst water mains on the A217 south of Reigate caused traffic issues this morning.
The road, Dovers Green Road, was closed due to flooding following the burst and the incident caused tailbacks into the town as the road was closed.
Approximately 2,500 local residents were either without water or reported low pressure for around two hours from 6am today, however, supplies were fully restored by mid-morning.
Remedial works are now in hand, but the surface of the A217 has been badly damaged.
Sutton and East Surrey Water said this means the road is likely to remain closed for several days whilst road and main repairs are carried out.
"We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this incident may be causing and assure customers we are working to get the road reopened as quickly as possible," said Project Engineer, Fiona Smithee.
