REDHILL manager Mike Maher had to "take his hat off" to his players after they came back from two goals down at half-time to beat local rivals South Park.
Goals from Dan Guscott and Dale Burgess gave the Sparks the lead, but Redhill continued their trend of performing better in the second 45 with Reece Hall winning and scoring a penalty within minutes of the restart before Shaun Loft equalised and Ross Morley scored a last-gasp winner.
And Maher was delighted for his players, insisting he always had the belief that they could turn the game around.
"It was unbelievable," he said. "We said at half-time that we have played really well in the second half of a number of games recently, we scored three in one game and four in another.
"To be fair, I think both teams could have scored a hell of a lot more than they did and our goalkeeper has pulled off two outstanding saves in the second half to make sure we stayed at a draw and then Ross Morley has popped up with a good winner. Tyrone Pink could have pulled the trigger and a year a go he would have and skied it over the bar, but he slid it to Ross who has put it away.
"I'm delighted to get the win, especially as we took some gip on the pitch from them in the first half at 2-0 down but we have come good in the second half. I'm thrilled for the boys and I believe results have gone our way elsewhere as well.
"We have a little bit of belief in the team. I know the last two results haven't gone our way but we were three unbeaten before that.
"I said to the players at half-time that I knew they could go and score three in the second half and they did, so I've got to take my hat off to them."
And while many were surprised to see Loft start the game up front for Redhill, Maher explained playing the former Rye United captain, known as a seasoned centre-back, as a striker was not as left-field as it might have seemed.
"Shaun Loft was outstanding up front for us," the manager said. "He has been a centre-half for the last five years, but what a lot of people don't know is, he's scored more than 250 goals as a centre-forward. He is a horrible player and I wouldn't like to play against him but he's put in a terrific shift for us."
The win moves Redhill to within two points of safety with games in hand over the sides around them in the table, and Maher is hoping to see his side take a step closer as they travel to Walton & Hersham on Saturday.
