Combined Counties League Division One
Cobham 0 Farleigh Rovers 1
TERRIFIC togetherness took table topping Foxes eight points clear to keep on their title track following this hard earned victory at Leg Of Mutton Field on Saturday.
Proud boss Barry Regelous gave captain Adam Cassim a peck on the cheek as management and players celebrated yet another inspiring success, their third straight league win of 2015.
It provided a glimpse into the awesome jubilation to come if underdogs Farleigh Rovers can pull off their own mission impossible with seven games of their successful season remaining.
Closest rivals AFC Croydon Athletic, who visit Parsonage Field on Saturday (2pm), have three games in hand on fearsome Foxes, while Worcester Park, Bedfont & Feltham and Banstead Athletic are all waiting in the wings to pounce potentially.
Yet, make no mistake, Foxes were pushed all the way by returning boss Barry Wilde's Hammers who produced a remarkable performance despite a three-month lay-off as a team following the extraordinary meeting only five days earlier which had sparked a club takeover.
Impressive striker Karl Parker settled the issue after 23 minutes, shooting home past goalkeeper Slavomir Huk inside the near post from 16 yards following a fine approach run by leading scorer Jovaun Henry who complemented the former South Park striker superbly.
That sort of clinical finishing proved to be the difference between both sides.
Cobham count point to Lewis Jackson's third minute near post glancing to safety off the crossbar and going close again on the hour mark when speedy striker Billy Murphy got in behind the visitors' defence and crossed for Yann Ahmet who saw his far post shot saved by impressive keeper Richie Bull on the goal-line, despite appeals in vain to referee Tom Ellsmore that the ball had crossed the line.
After 83 minutes Cobham came close again when lively left winger Gary Abisogyn foud substitute Yateka Aboubaker whose point blank range shot was parried by Bull and man of the match defender Liam Neaves cleared the danger.
Foxes survived another frantic finale but thankfully only a minute's additional time, while substitute striker Theo Campbell enjoyed an encouraging debut on his return from a broken ankle, having started the season with Combined Counties League Premier Division club Bedfont Sports.
