A YOUNG woman was followed and robbed at knifepoint in Kingswood late on Friday night.
Detectives from East Surrey CID are appealing for information after the victim, in her 20s, was followed and then threatened with a knife while walking in Kingswood Road at around 11.15pm.
The woman sensed she was being following before a man approached her, produced a small knife and demanded money.
The victim handed over cash and noticed a car had pulled up beside her. The man got into the vehicle which then drove off in the direction of Epsom Downs.
The woman was left shaken but was not physically injured and made her way home before reporting the offence to police.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Joanne Sewell said: "Although the area in which this offence occurred would have been quiet at the time of the crime, I have no doubt from the offender description and details of the car that someone will know who is responsible for this robbery.
"I am also concerned that there may be other victims and I would appeal to these people to come forward to allow us to support them through what must be a traumatic experience and to help us catch these offenders."
The man is described as white, aged in his early 20s and around 6ft in height. He was wearing a blue hooded top and spoke with a London accent.
The car is described as a small, white, four door hatchback and was being driven by another person.
A number of enquiries are now being carried out in the local area by CID and officers from the Reigate and Banstead Safer Neighbourhood Team.
