A BARN fire in Bletchingley which caused £100,000 of damage is being treated as arson.
Surrey Police is appealing for information following the blaze on farmland off Bletchingley Road.
Firefighters were called out on Wednesday evening and battled the fire through the night and yesterday (Thursday). Firefighters left the scene around 24 hours later at around 5pm.
No injuries were reported, but it is estimated around £100,000 worth of damage was caused.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Jemma Daly said: "Fortunately no-one was injured during the fire and it was soon brought under control by Surrey Fire and Rescue Service but it could have very easily been different.
"We are fully investigating the incident to establish the events surrounding it and I would urge anyone who has information on the cause of the fire to contact police with information."
A number of enquiries have been carried out in the area including house-to-house and the NPAS police helicopter also helped officers at the scene.
