A REIGATE community group has a bright future after winning funding.

Stripey Stork, a voluntary initiative collecting and redistributing second-hand items to the borough's neediest families, received enough public votes to win £500 in a national Grassroots Giving campaign run by Skipton Building Society.

Established in 2013, Stripey Stork volunteers collect second-hand baby clothes, toys, equipment and furniture and give them to those who most need them in Reigate and Banstead.

The money given to the group will be used to purchase strong, clean storage boxes and bags to keep donated items organised and dust free.

Sorted and clearly labelled stock means orders can be packed quickly and efficiently and will allow the group to make best use of the modest accommodation used to store all the donated items.

James Webb, Skipton Building Society's regional manager, said: "We love being able to help small, self-funded groups and give them the boost that they both need and deserve."
