THE lowest temperatures so far this year (2015) in Surrey have seen the county gripped by a very hard frost this morning (Tuesday).
In the Gatwick Airport, Charlwood and Newdigate area, the temperature fell to -5C (23F) early this morning.
At Reigate Grammar School, the automatic weather station recorded -3.9C (25F) at 4.38am. At 7am, it had risen to -3C (27F) at Gatwick.
The coldest time at Gatwick was at about 4.50am and a chill mist developed with visibility down to 1,000m.
The Met Office says today will be fair and cold. Some rain or sleet is expected tonight. There could be some wet snow on top of the North Downs. It will remain cold over the next two days but Friday will be milder as winds begin to arrive from the west, the Met Office added.
