WHYTELEAFE School made a splash when it won an inter-school swimming gala for the tenth consecutive year.

An 18-strong team triumphed against five other schools at the annual Tandridge schools swimming gala at Warlingham Secondary School.

After wins in the solo races, the team secured victory with a strong performance in the relay to take home the trophy for the school for the tenth time in a decade.

"I can't tell you how proud I am of their achievements," said Whyteleafe head teacher Anthony Marsh.

"The children, their parents and helpers have put in so much effort, they really deserve this win, and so does our swimming teacher Sharon Martina.

"This win also demonstrates just how importantly we take PE and physical activity at the school – and how fantastically the children respond to that."

Ms Martina was also quick to praise her pupils.

"To win for the tenth year in a row is amazing," she said.

"Whyteleafe has such a good track record for swimming, and that really inspires the children to want to live up to those who have come before them."
