DEDICATED employees of Sutton and East Surrey Water have been honoured for their combined total of 152 years of service.

The Redhill-based company held a special lunch attended by chairman Jeremy Pelczer to reward its staff's commitment.

Paula Melhuish and Bill King, from Redhill, were among those recognised. Ms Melhuish, who is also a volunteer at Salford Brownies, began her career with the company in 1989 as a customer service clerk. She progressed through many roles and is now leader of the network services team

Mr King, a control room operator, started life at SESW in 1971 and has been described as a "safe pair of hands".

Others given awards included section manager Bob Basden from Kent, plant operator John Quinn from Kenley and John Gaden, who has 26 years of service under his belt as an outside maintenance operative.
