ACQUITTED murder suspect Shrien Dewani arrived at Gatwick Airport this morning after a trial accusing him of arranging the murder of his bride collapsed.
The millionaire businessman, who faced charges including conspiracy to murder, kidnap and robbery, was dramatically cleared of plotting to kill his wife during their honeymoon in Cape Town in November 2010
The 34-year-old walked free from a South African court last week after Judge Jeanette Traverse ruled that the prosecution case against him was "riddled with contradictions".
This morning (Wednesday), he arrived at Gatwick amid a media scrum.
He was escorted by six officers from Sussex Police, which the force says would have been patrolling the area "as normal business".
A spokesman added the providing the escort was "a decision made by Sussex Police and Gatwick Airport Limited, which focused on minimising disruption to normal business and maximising safety of all at the airport".
Mr Dewani had been in Cape Town since being extradited from the UK in April.
