AN AWARD-WINNING Merstham photographer has launched her latest show in her home town.

Alannah Hawker, who recently picked up a "highly commended" prize at the British Wildlife Photography Awards, launched her new show at the RT Gallery in Merstham's High Street on Friday.

Miss Hawker leapt into the public eye with her photos chronicling the adventures of a family of foxes, one of which was the one selected for commendation at the award ceremony.

Speaking ahead of the launch, Miss Hawker said: "Choosing pictures to exhibit is always the hardest part of preparing the show, I find.

"I decided I wanted to focus more on our great British wildlife this time. Everything in the exhibition was taken in the wild, and I tried to base a lot around the local area."

Julie Bond, who owns the RT Gallery, added: "It is an amazing show and we had a really good turnout for the launch. There were people here with both an artistic and a wildlife background.

"We have supported Alannah for the last two-and-a-half years and it is fantastic to see her do so well.

"As her local gallery we thought it was very important that we do something like this."

Miss Hawker's work is on show at the gallery until December 8.
