AN EVENING of folk music will launch the new Reigate and Redhill Peace Group.
The event in Redhill on Saturday, December 6, will also kick-start fundraising for the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament.
British and Irish folk group Rusty Wizzard and sea shanty singers The Full Shanty will be performing at St Joseph's PNL Centre Hall in Ladbroke Road.
Entrance will be free, but donations on the night for the "No to Trident renewal" campaign will be encouraged.
David Hilder, a member of the group and The Full Shanty, said: "We hope this fun evening will raise awareness about the ongoing issue of Trident renewal.
"The next parliament will have to decide in 2016 whether to spend £100 billion on renewing UK's nuclear defence.
"Reigate MP Crispin Blunt has supported our call not to renew Trident and his views chime with those of the majority of the electorate, who have indicated in polls that they oppose renewal on the grounds there are more important issues to spend taxpayers' money on than on an irrelevant, inhumane weapon of indiscriminate mass destruction."
The evening starts at 8pm and there will be a bar.
