FRIENDS and family of a boy with cerebral palsy walked over fire to raise money for his cause.
The Hope for Isaac Fire Walk, organised by event organisation Time 4 Change, was held earlier this month at The Angel pub in Woodhatch.
A total of 33 brave walkers raised £7,000 for the campaign, which was set up to raise funds for an operation which could enable 18-month-old Isaac Manzoor to walk. Isaac has spastic quadriplegia cerebral palsy, which seriously impairs his muscle co-ordination, and often leaves him in pain.
His mum, Louise Elliot, is trying to raise between £40,000 and £60,000 for the operation, which is only available in the United States.
Miss Elliot said: "I was the first to walk for Team Isaac and also had a second walk at the end. It was very scary standing around the fire and feeling the heat coming off but, with the adrenaline pumping, walking across you don't remember what it felt like."
The event also raised funds for five other East Surrey charities – Harrison's Hear the Heartbeat Awareness, Theo's Fight, Hope for Emily, Special Sisters and the Harvey Watson Fundraiser.
Miss Elliot added: "With all the supporters from the six charities cheering everyone on it was an amazing atmosphere."
