TWO incidents of fly-tipping at a beauty spot have prompted a council warning.

It is believed that a white pick-up truck was used to dump builder's waste, including a toilet, on Limpsfield Chart on October 16 and 18.

Each time the dumpers gained access via Moorhouse Road.

Shirlee Reid-Hamilton, who took this photograph after being appalled by the sight, said: "It's unbelievable and so vile.

"I hope these people are found and brought to justice. How can anyone in good conscience do that to the woods?

"There was even a toilet dumped. How did they carry it in?"

Tandridge District Council spokeswoman Giuseppina Valenza explained that its waste enforcement officer recovered among the debris the address of the householder who had paid for their waste to be removed by a cold caller. Ms Valenza added: "The householder had made no enquiries and had no details.

"They are meeting the cost of removing the waste.

"We helped the National Trust dispose of the waste."

Householders must ensure anyone removing their waste is a registered waste carrier – otherwise they risk a fine of up to £5,000.

People can check whether an individual is registered by calling the Environment Agency on 03708 506 506. Always keep full contact details of the person removing the waste, including the vehicle registration.
