MAX CHILTON is expected to sit out the US Grand Prix after his team, Marussia, were place in administration.
Administrators FRP Advisory confirmed today the Formula 1 team would continue to operate but had already withdrawn from this weekend's race in Austin.
It is likely that Chilton, who is Marussia's only driver currently after his team-mate Jules Bianchi received a serious head injury in the Singapore Grand Prix earlier this month, will also miss the race in Brazil next month.
The races in Texas and Sao Paulo are back-to-back and the cars will be transported direct from the US to Brazil before returning to Europe.
It leaves Reigate-based Chilton with an uncertain future having failed to pick up a point so far in his season and a half in the elite sport.
Since Marussia made their debut in 2010 they have only amassed two points, picked up in Monaco in May thanks to Bianchi's ninth-place finish.
Marussia are not the only team to miss the races with Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone confirming Caterham are in a similar situation having gone into administration themselves on Friday. It will leave just 18 cars and nine teams competing.
