REIGATE and Banstead Borough Council's licensing committee were required to classify a film during a recent meeting.
The committee, made up of 15 councillors, adjourned into a private session midway through a meeting on September 10 to watch Peacemakers, a film showing a conversation about peace between actor Jeremy Gilley and international speaker Prem Rawat.
It followed a request to classify the film, as it has not been given a rating by the British Board of Film Classification.
All films require classification before they can be shown in licensed premises, such as cinemas.
Councillor Richard Mantle, a member of the committee, told the Mirror that the film was subsequently given a classification of U, suitable for anyone aged four and above.
He added: "It was quite an affective discussion about how to get people to think positively and how peace is in everyone's soul and you have just got to let it out."
