MAX CHILTON'S Marussia team-mate Jules Bianchi has been taken to hospital after a crash which ended the Japanese Grand Prix.
A red flag was brought out on lap 44 on today's race following Bianchi's crash, and it was decided the grand prix would not restart. It is believed the 25-year-old Marussia driver left the track at the same point Adrian Sutil had laps before, possibly colliding with the crane that was used to move Sutil's car.
Bianchi was reported to be 'unconscious' as he was transported to hospital by ambulance. An air ambulance was available, but due to weather conditions it was unable to take off.
Nico Rosberg finished second in the race, behind team-mate Lewis Hamilton, but insisted he was more concerned with the health of Bianchi.
"I'm not thinking about the race, I'm thinking about my colleague," insisted Rosberg. "I've been given some information and it seems very, very serious. I'm hoping for the best.
"I was disappointed to finish second but I'm not really thinking about that. I was not comfortable with the car today, I was not able to attack and did not find a solution to find the balance."
Reigate's Chilton came 18th from 19 finishers.
