THE family and friends of a man killed by a train at Horley station have spoken of their sadness at his death.
David Norton Frost was hit by a train shortly after 8.20am on September 11. Emergency services rushed to the station but the 48-year-old from Horley was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file has been prepared for the coroner.
Mr Norton Frost, who was originally from Cardiff in Wales, had lived in Horley for the last nine years and worked as an airline cabin crew member.
His father, Henry Frost, told the Mirror: "He [David] was happy and bubbly and he just enjoyed life. He enjoyed going out, having fun and being with his friends."
A Facebook page has since been set up in David's memory.
One post by Helen Panton reads: "So sad to hear the news about DNF, looked forward to working a shift with him, didn't matter what sort of mood I was in, could always rely on David to cheer me up and make me laugh with one of his stories."
Another by Darrell Lavender said: "David was such a laugh to work with. He was always cheerful and was never one to complain or whinge about little things. He made everyone else laugh and smile, both colleagues and customers alike."
Jo Dalton also posted: "What a seriously funny guy he was!!! He always knew how to shed light on the rubbish that life threw at you!!
"I was so so shocked to hear this very sad news and still now i can't believe it.
"I hope David will rest in peace and make all our friends and relatives that have already passed laugh as much as we did!!"
Joe Grant added: "One of the funniest men I've met! Could have been a stand up comedian! Lovely man. So down to earth."
His father added that life had been difficult for the family since they heard the news: "It's up and down. Sometimes it gets to you. You try to make yourself busy so you get the thoughts out of your head. With situations like this you always ask yourself if you could have done more.
"It's just the way it is. None of us are immune from tragedy."
Mr Norton Frost's funeral will be held at the Surrey and Sussex Crematorium in Balcombe Road, Crawley, on October 8 at 12.45pm.
