Ryman League Division One South Carshalton Athletic 0 Chipstead 0 DESPITE a frantic and often end-to-end game, this match always looked like it was heading for a goalless draw. Both Carshalton Athletic and Chipstead struggled to produce in front of goal, and when they did, keepers Jack Eden and Milan Stojsavljevic were more than a match for what was on offer. In contrast to their normal passing style, Chipstead seemed to rely on long balls which worked against the qualities of their captain Moody, who has the abilities to be a game changer but whose strengths don't lie in the air. It was a lively start to the game at Colston Avenue as the first real opportunity fell to the visitors when Will Turl found himself through on goal but shot wide of the left-hand post after 11 minutes and minutes later Bobbie Webbe should have done better with a header. The first half an hour was not a display for the football purist with the game played at a good tempo but largely scrappily. Carshalton had to wait 30 minutes for their first shot of target but Nassim Dukali should have really made it count after being put through on the left, Stojsavljevic saving well at his feet. Brendan Murphy-McVey nearly opened the scoring after 39 minutes but his shot was weak and straight at Stojsavljevic, while Turl delivered a dangerous cross at the other end but there were no hooped shirts to get on the end of it. The home side came into their own in the last five minutes of the half but Chipstead's defence dealt with the pressure well. The half ended with another chance for Turl, but the striker could only watch as the ball inched wide of the left-hand post again. Chipstead came out in the second half with renewed energy and Webbe went close within minutes of kick off. Dan Moody was denied a shoot opportunity after 55 minutes by Robins shot-stopper Jack Eden before a superb bit of gaolkeeping at the other end prevented a Jamal Alexander goal. The game continued to flow from end to end, often directly, but there was neither the bit of quality nor lapse in concentration needed to produce a goal.
