A HORLEY author has completed his second book, which he hopes will help people understand the impact sexual abuse can have on victims.
One Man's Poison, by Tom Langdale, tells the story of Christine Tyler, a young woman from Devon who, after suffering sexual abuse, flees to London and joins the Army. After rising through the ranks she is posted on a mission with a Major Martin Winthrop where the pair must bring down the perpetrators of a series of murders targeting Germans who were officers during the Second World War. But all is not as it seems, and the deeper they dig, the more worrying connections to his past Martin finds.
It is Mr Langdale's second book after his A Young Man's Guide To Life was published in 2010.
But One Man's Poison is the Benhams Close resident's first novel and it is has been four years in the writing.
While it may not be evident from the plot, a key theme at the heart of One Man's Poison is sexual abuse and its impact.
Trying not to give away key details, Mr Langdale told the Mirror: "It's relevant today because everyone talks about the perpetrators but not the victims.
"You see court cases and people going to prison but, the actual victims, you do not actually hear about them and their struggle."
Mr Langdale will be signing copies of his novel at Barton's Book Shop in Leatherhead on September 27.
