Windsor Dames travelled to Park Avenue to take on the Old Cats and left with the full five points on offer. Showing grit and determination, they broke their way through the Old Cats defensive line and ran 52 points on to the scoreboard. The first try was scored by Windsor but un-converted. Old Cats responded quickly, working their way downfield, sending fly half Hannah Barrett over the line for the first try. Hooker Vicky Leigh converted, putting the Cats in the lead after 6 minutes. A high tackle from Windsor then gave the ladies a penalty, which they then worked across the field to send speedy winger Jennipher Stevens over the line for her first try of the match. Windsor scored the next three tries, taking the score back in their favour and were duly awarded a bonus point for their efforts. However, the Cats came back with another try, scored after some wonderfully quick thinking only 5 yards from the line. A penalty awarded, fly half Hannah Barrett took it quickly for second row Rebecca Moreton to dive through the Windsor defenders and over the line. With another try from Windsor just before the end of play, the half-time score stood at 17-33. After Windsor put the first try of the second half on the scoreboard, the Old Cats stepped up and took control of the game. The team worked their way up the field as a team, eventually finding Jennipher each time, to show her pace and score three consecutive tries; one of which Hannah converted. The final score was 52-34 to Windsor Dames. Director of Rugby Steve Williams praised the girls, saying, "It was probably the second best game the womens section have actually played. Excellent tackling, good covering, and they wanted to win. Very few negatives." Windsor Chairman and Coach Paul Laidler said, "I think they (Windsor) did very well to front up from what was an experienced and heavy set of forwards that know what they're doing… the resolve that both sets of girls went out there with was absolutely first class." Despite certain lapses in the Old Cat's concentration in defence, which cost the game, the ladies excelled with their tackling, support running and determination. With the next game away at Hammersmith & Fulham II on Sunday 28th September, the team will be confident to work on the team's strengths that are shining through each week and get a win away from home.
