OLD Reigatians secured a vital victory against local rivals Reigate Priory on Saturday thanks to two goals from captain Josh Evans.
ORs started the game well with slick passing and good communication and looking dangerous when moving forward.
However, Priory looked equally strong with their counterattacks through the middle of the field - and it was Priory who came close to scoring first.
The ball was passed out wide to the OR baseline and sent into the D where Neil Edwards managed to disrupt its path by getting a pad in the way to send the ball upwards.
First to react was a Priory attacker, who seized the opportunity and tried to tip the ball over Edwards but ended tipping it over the goal.
It was now ORs' turn to attack. Richard Harvey, making a darting run towards the D, received the ball from Skeet but the keeper managed to dive and get his stick on the ball.
The ball was sent wide and Harvey tried to reclaim when the whistle blew.
The decision was a penalty stroke as the keeper hit the ball with the reverse side of his stick, with Evans coolly flicking the ball high and to the side.
The next goal came from a left-to-right transition where Neil Copeman passed the ball to Harvey, who took on the keeper, this time retaining the ball in his possession and lifting the ball up past a flailing defender.
Harvey was then marked for the rest of the game but this did not stop him putting in a great performance and eventually gaining ORs another penalty flick.
Evans placed the ball in the same spot, the keeper diving to the opposite side as ORs moved above Cheam into eighth in the table.
