AN ENTREPRENEUR is enjoying a roaring trade with her latest creation.
Molly Moo and Jessica Too, a company founded by Horley mum Gemma Payne, is making innovative toy dinosaurs out of used school jumpers.
Ms Payne, of Cheyne Walk, told the Mirror: "Quite a few people make memory makes, which is making items out of clothes and other things with memories, but I have always made stegosauruses.
"I just started making them and they are popular. I think I have made and sold more than 200 stegosauruses in total."
Many of Ms Payne's School Uniform Stegosauruses are ordered by parents for their children's teachers as an end-of-term treat.
The soft-toy dinosaurs are made almost entirely from whatever material is provided to Ms Payne by parents, normally a used jumper or a polo shirt.
Toy stuffing is then used to fill them, while the feet and plates are made from felt.
Ms Payne's latest inventions are only the tip of her textile business iceberg.
Six years ago, while pregnant, she was made redundant from her job working for a homeless charity.
The change motivated Ms Payne to turn her lifelong passion into a business.
She said: "I have always liked sewing, my mum taught me to sew. Then I got made redundant while pregnant with my youngest and then I thought, 'Oh, maybe I can make some money out of it'."
Now Molly Moo and Jessica Too, named after Ms Payne's two children, produces custom-made quilts, cushions and stegosauruses for customers all over the world.
She also makes custom-made dresses, bags and skirts through her clothing line Pink Label.
Ms Payne said: "It's going well, with lots of custom orders. I get lots of repeat customers so hopefully people think what I make is of a good quality. Certain items are really popular with Americans."
