A former Surrey man was due to appear in court yesterday (Friday, 1 March) charged in connection with a conspiracy to import cocaine into Britain following his extradition from Mexico.
Alan Sibley, 55, arrived at Heathrow Airport on Thursday (28 February) escorted by officers from Surrey Police's Serious Organised Crime Unit - who had flown out to Mexico City earlier this week.
Sibley, whose previous address was in Lightwater, was due to appear at Staines Magistrates Court yesterday charged with conspiracy to import class A drugs and escaping from lawful custody in 2005.
Detective Inspector Ben Lee said: "This successful extradition follows months of hard work from a number of agencies and co-operation from the Mexican authorities."
