Llama Summary A destructive 50 not out from Toby Briggs led Reigate Priory's second XI to an unlikely victory on Saturday against Malden Wanderers. With just under nine overs to go, the Llamas were still 72 runs shy with just four wickets in hand, but with skipper Jon Gale (32) a match changing partnership of 44 off 21 balls turned the tables. Briggs' half-century came off 23 balls, with nine fours and one six, with the final boundary taking the Llamas to victory with four balls to spare. Tom Lister's 56 earlier in the innings helped sure the innings up, with useful contributions from Will Irving (23) and David Ramsden (27). Earlier in the day, Malden were 171-3 and cruising to a large total but excellent bowling from Connor Newbold (4-74) and Ben Donovan (3-28) restricted the home team to 205-9 from their 55 overs. The Priory third team's title hopes took a hit as they drew with Dulwich, chasing 240 in 46 overs. Simon Wickham's four wickets were the highlight of a poor fielding performance, and despite 65 from Christopher Morgan, 51 from Antony Ireland and 47 not out from Michael Ramsden, Priory finished 26 runs short with five wickets in hand. A third win in three games for the 4th XI (Surrey Cricket League) meant they have now moved out the relegation zone in Division 1 . Manoj Rajarethinam (4 for 32) and Chris Mankelow (3 for 16) helped bowl out Hamilton for 139. There were useful contributions from all the batsmen, with Srikkanth Vuppala hitting the highest score of 36 not out, as the Llamas won by 5 wickets. The 4th XI (Surrey Championship) lost by 166 runs as they were only able to field eight players on Saturday. Matthew Crichton was extremely impressive takeing 5 for 65, but the Dulwich target of 208 was too much for the Llamas. The Cavaliers won a thrilling encounter at the idyllic Headley ground. Headley had batted determinedly on a tricky pitch to reach 171 against some testing Cavalier bowling. Headley's bowlers were just as tricky to play, especially Wallace and Pickering and the cavaliers were floundering at 121 for 7 with 8 overs left. But Justin Dempsey and young colt Tom Guise turned things around with an excellent partnership, showing aggressive running and nerveless batting to win the game.
