A HORLEY man in his 20s who was arrested in connection with a spate of arson attacks across Reigate and Banstead borough has been released on bail.
Surrey Police has moved to reassure the community a large number of officers have been deployed to prevent further offences.
The latest arrest was made on Friday. The man who has not been named has been released on bail until September 24. A second man in his 40s is also on police bail until August 21.
Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Antony Archibald, said: "I am confident this latest arrest is a positive step forward in our investigation. However, I understand that releasing a suspect on police bail can leave people doubtful but sometimes this course of action must be taken to allow further enquires to be carried out.
"I would like to reassure members of the Reigate and Banstead community that we will continue deploying large numbers of officers to the affected areas to help prevent further occurrences.
"A dedicated team of detectives supported by officers from East Surrey will continue to investigate these thoughtless crimes and I urge anyone who can assist to contact police as a matter of urgency.
"Surrey Police continues to work closely with Surrey Fire and Rescue Service and Reigate and Banstead Borough Council to support victims and the wider community."
Reigate and Banstead Neighbourhood Inspector Andy Rundle thanked the community for its support to the police and fire crews.
He said: "The community has pulled together and looked out for one another through this tough time and I hope this will continue until we have brought those responsible to justice for their offences."
