It was a big game for the Llamas coming off a winning draw against Spencer and a loss against Wimbledon the week before. The toss was crucial as the weather looked likely to get worse as the day went on. Fortunately for the Llamas, the skipper won the toss and chose to have a bowl on a hard but green wicket, which many thought might do a bit early on in the innings. With Sunbury fielding a stronger side than when the sides first met earlier in the season, Priory knew that they had a tough day ahead. Neil Saker and William Hodson opened the bowling and kept the runs down to a minimum, for the first few overs with many balls beating the outside edge. It was not long before Hodson got the first wicket of Jonny Maunders with only 25 runs on the board. Shortly after the first wicket fell, Hodson struck again, and got the Sunbury skipper, Adam London lbw leaving the score 29-2. Sunbury continued to lose wickets at regular intervals due to some aggressive all round bowling from Robbie Williams, who after Hodson's third wicket, proceeded to take the next 7, finishing with the amazing figures of 8.5 overs, 7-35 - which will be up there as one of the best spells of bowling this year. Together with Hodson's opening trio, the llamas restricted Sunbury to just 90 of 28.5 overs. With the llamas opening up with Richie Oliver and Andrew Delmont, hopes were high of getting back to winning ways. Unfortunately Delmont went early on in the innings, bowled by Maunders. This bought Chris Murtagh to the crease coming of a 49 at Spencer. But it was not long before Oliver and Murtagh were both in the club house leaving the llamas 28-3, precariously short of the required total of 90. Tye and Burgess then added 20 before Tye was caught off the bowling of Mathew Todd for 8. However Michael Burgess steadied the ship and together with Ali Raja saw the llamas home, with Burgess contributing 41 not out, as the llamas got back to winning ways. This week, they look forward to welcoming Sutton at Park Lane, after Cricket Week at the Priory, with MCC on Wednesday, and the game against Lashings in a 20/20 on Friday, which will be an awesome day, with the new club house in full swing.
