REIGATE Priory star Craig Cachopa was unable to prevent Sussex from losing to Kent on his T20 debut for the side.
The South African-born New Zealander made his first appearance for Sussex last night (Friday) at Hove against Kent, but only scored 11 runs in 14 balls as the Sharks narrowly lost out by three runs.
Cachopa, 22, came to the crease with Sussex struggling at 14-2 and while he survived a few overs and kept the scoreboard ticking over, he was unable to score a boundary and was dismissed when he was bamboozled by a tricky delivery from Fabian Cowdrey.
After slumping to 41-5, Sussex looked to be in real trouble, but Ben Brown (33), Chris Jordan (37) and Will Beer (25) gave the Sharks some late hope with some big hitting, only for Sussex to finish just short in the chase.
