DORKING Rugby Club maintained their push for promotion this afternoon (Saturday) with a 20-3 win against Gravesend at the Big Field.
However, the Red & Whites missed out on a bonus point that would have seen them extend their lead at the top of National League Three London.
Dorking were made to work for the win against a struggling Gravesend side, who had only won four of their 16 league games coming into the clash.
After a scoreless first half, the visitors took the lead early on following the restart, slotting over a penalty for a three point advantage.
But Dorking hit back with a penalty of their own, before Ross Grimstone scored an unconverted try to put the league leaders in front.
Mike Terelak then added two further tries - one of which was converted - to put the Red & Whites within reach of an all-important bonus point.
However, Gravesend held firm defensively in the closing stages, with Dorking having to settle for the four points, which keep them top of the division with nine games to go.
The Red & Whites face a tough test next weekend when they visit third-placed Bishop's Stortford, who won 29-20 away at CS Rugby 1863 this afternoon.
Stortford are now seven points behind Dorking, while second-placed Barnes remain five points behind the Red & Whites after a 15-10 win against Tring today.
