This weekend saw Old Woking take on Reigate Priory Cavaliers on a sunny Sunday afternoon.
With skipper Matt Coomber winning the toss and electing to bowl first it seemed like the right decision on a tricky wicket as Cavaliers were all out 135. Roos and Smith opened the bowling and applied some great pressure early on, taking 3 and 2 wickets respectively. Cavaliers skipper, Joel Miller, batted satisfactorily for a while until later dismissed by Coomber, things were looking comfortable for Old Woking as they had the visitors 32 for 4. That is until ex OWCC player Sam Hart came to the crease and batted very well for his 73. There was controversy early on in his innings though as an edge behind taken by vice captain, Jason Orriss was not given out, from there, Hart went on to construct a good total, just as he was looking likely to making his way to the next landmark, up and coming Old Woking colt Jack Lenton got the better of him. Quick hands from Orriss behind the stumps gave the young lad his first adult's wicket at the age of 10 and finished with fantastic figures of 1 for 13.
After tea, OWCC took to the field chasing a low total.
Old Woking's top order underestimated the Cavaliers leaving the home side 6 for 5 after 8 over's. Late on budding colt George Smith looked like he might lead Old Woking to a reprieve but with wickets falling at the other end and the top order not getting to grips with a tough batting track and a decent bowling attack.
The home side fell well short of their total, all out for 51. Mason bowled really well and ended up with figures of 3 for 11 and Rajarethinam with outstanding figures of 3 for 4.
