THERE will be no huge turnaround of players at Whyteleafe this summer with manager John Fowler confident his Southern Counties East League champions can make the step up to the Ryman League.
After just two seasons out of Step Four, Whyteleafe are back in the Ryman League Division One South for 2014-15 and Fowler is happy to keep faith with the side than earned promotion.
"I would like to make maybe two or three additions but I would be more than comfortable to keep the squad I had last season," Fowler said. "I actually think there is less pressure on us in the Ryman League than in the Southern Counties. We knew we had to win the Southern Counties whereas I don't think anyone expects us to win the Ryman South.
"I've asked everyone from last season to come back for pre-season and I think we had more than enough in that squad to stay in the Ryman League.
"There are a couple of last year's team who previously played in the Ryman League and I'm sure a few have a point to prove."
Previously Croydon boss, Fowler has never managed in the Ryman League but played in the division for many clubs including Leafe, Carshalton Athletic, Croydon Athletic and Walton & Hersham.
But the Leafe boss is confident his side will be competitive in Division One South.
"I just want us to give everyone a proper game and then finish as high as we can," he said. "We are looking forward to the season though; the work on the ground and the new 3G is going well and I've had a lot of interest from players. But at this time in the season it's all a bit of a merry-go-round with players; you don't know if everyone who says they will turn up will do."
