MBE winner and Caterham "hero" Andy Parr has spoken of his delight at his award.
He won the honour for "services to the community of Caterham".
Not only is he chairman of the Caterham Festival but he is a former Caterham district scout commissioner, and much-involved in everything from the town's carnival and fireworks night to helping at the annual Christmas Day lunch for otherwise housebound residents.
Andy, who lives in Manor Avenue, Caterham, said: "I'm really chuffed to bits at the news.
"But lots of other people do a lot of things in the town who are equally deserving.
"This is one of the best moments in my life."
