VETERANS brought artefacts from the Second World War to Redhill's Belfry Shopping Centre to mark the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings.
Members of the Merstham Royal British Legion, many of whom fought in the war, set up a stand on the ground floor of the centre on June 6 and 7, to raise money for care homes for retired service personnel.
Ted Hickman, chairman of the branch said: "All people from all walks of life will have come to see our stand. When you are getting old and you do not have anyone to look after you, homes do look after you."
He added: "The Belfry have been fantastic. The management and the staff, there's not enough you can say about them."
Among the items were a 1942 jeep, a Lewis gun, a Lee-Enfield rifle and Sten guns.
Branch secretary Bob Woods said: "The day has been beyond what we thought, it's absolutely fabulous."
