OLD Reigatian head coach Jonny Hylton vowed that his side will come back "faster, fitter and stronger" next season.
The ORs lost out 43-5 to Guildford in the Surrey Trophy final on Monday to finish off a season that ended with them coming sixth in London Two South West.
Hylton said: "Guildford are a well-drilled side and we were going to be underdogs in this but I think we gave them a bit too much respect early.
"We had some stern words at half-time, which could have gone one of two ways but the guys didn't want to finish the season like that.
"The second half performance was tremendous and we just need to take that into next season. I was proud of them for that and it was a good way to end the season.
"We are going to get back together in the beginning of July for pre-season and re-assess. We have started the hard work this year and are going to work even harder in the summer and going to come back faster, fitter and stronger."
The ORs conceded 36 points in the first half as Hylton's men were too easily cut open by an incisive Guildford attack, but a much-improved and tighter second half performance from the ORs culminated in Andy Dalton's consolation try.
Hylton added: "We were thinking about taking three points just to win the second half. It just showed that they are a quality side and if you make any mistakes against them then they are going to punish you. That is exactly what happened and they are very clinical but we managed to shut them down a bit more in the second half."
The ORs did not have to play a game to get into the final of the competition and Hylton admitted he would like to see more teams enter.
He said: "It would be nice if more teams participated in it but that is one for Surrey County to try and get right."
