Battlebridge Boxing Club travelled to Sporting Ring in Camberley on Thursday, April 24, with two boxers on and some good results.
The first boxer out was Nathan Mizon, who faced home-club boxer Callam Smith. Mizon came out in the first round throwing combinations and pushing Smith back. The second and third rounds were much the same but, with Mizon using the ring and controlling the bout, he claimed the win by a points decision.
Next up was Scott McGovern against James Barr of Mole Valley Boxing Club. McGovern, although nervous, handled the bout well, getting off some good combinations. It was even going into the last round but Barr came on a little stronger to take the win.
On Saturday the club travelled to Colchester for with Kayleigh Bulmer's for her first skills bout, against Molly Yates of Colchester. Bulmer did not disappoint, with her ring craft second to none, totally dominating the three one-minute rounds. Later that night the club visited Camberley Lakeside Country Club, with Ben Reeves fighting Daniel Layton of Swanley Boxing Club. Reeves commanded the first round but seemed to get weaker in the last two, giving the final decision to Layton.
The club are going to the Moulescombe open show this Friday where McGoven is boxing along with Jack Gallant. Saturday sees the club at Gosport with Yannick Foh who is boxing in an English university rep match.
