SURREY County Council says it is investing £330 million to provide 13,000 new primary and secondary school places over the next three years.
Figures released this week show 83 per cent of students in Surrey got their first choice secondary school place for this September.
A further 11 per cent of applicants got one of their top three secondary school choices.
Councillor Linda Kemeny, Surrey County Council's cabinet member for schools and learning, said: "I am delighted that so many Surrey children have got into a secondary school they wanted and this is despite us having to provide 600 more places compared to last year.
"The demand will increase further in the future and over the next three years we are investing almost £330 million to provide the 13,000 extra primary and secondary places the county needs. Despite the pressure this increasing demand is putting on our resources I have no doubt we can continue to provide our children with the excellent education they deserve."
In Reigate and Banstead, 88 per cent of students got their first choice place, while in Tandridge the figure was 94 per cent.
