VOLUNTEERS and police officers are scouring the countryside in the hunt for a vulnerable woman who has been missing since Saturday.
Patricia Boniface, 78, went missing from her home in Smallfield on Saturday evening. She was last seen by her husband at around 6pm.
This morning volunteers from the community teamed up with Surrey Police officers to search for Mrs Boniface, who appears fit and well but has Alzheimer's.
Amy Forrest, a volunteer who has travelled from Crawley to help, said: "I would like to think if it was a member of my family lost, local people would help."
Mrs Boniface is described as white, 5ft tall, with a large build and grey curly hair, she was last seen wearing a red jumper, a blue body warmer, black trousers and sandals.
Detective Inspector Richard Hamlin, who was co-ordinating the hunt, said: "We are very concerned for her welfare."
He added: "She's dressed for a stroll on a Saturday evening but she's certainly not dressed for a period of rain."
"We are very worried, she's not had any contact with family members."
He asked all residents in the area to check gardens, outbuildings, shelters and garages.
