Merstham man sentenced to 30 weeks in prison following a burglary

A MERSTHAM man has been sentenced to 30 weeks in prison following a burglary in Redhill. On Tuesday, March 25, between 10am and 4pm John Nolan, 31, entered the property in Jason Road and stole a number of items of jewellery and money. On April 16, Mr Nolan, of Ketton Green pleaded guilty to burglary at Guildford Crown Court. He was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison for this offence and a total of 30 weeks imprisonment as he was already serving a suspended sentence. Investigating Officer Detective Constable Sarah Jupp, said: "I welcome the sentence handed to Nolan and am happy he will be taken off the streets of Surrey for a period of time. "I hope the sentence handed to Nolan will remind him and others that Surrey Police will not tolerate criminality in our county."
