A taxi was on fire during rush hour this morning on the A23/M23 junction in Merstham.
Dr Stewart Bryant, of London Road North, was getting dressed when he noticed the black taxi.
Firefighters later arrived at 9.20am and put out the blaze. Reigate Fire Station believe it was caused by an engine malfunction.
Dr Bryant said: "I saw the taxi driver wandering around in my front garden.
"I then noticed a rather large amount of smoke going up and investigated it.
"It was a spectacular fire. The whole thing was completed enveloped in smoke and there was sort of flames leaping tall of the taxi."
