THE Jurassic Age has come to Godstone.

On Saturday, Godstone Farm opened its new Dino Trail, complete with 11, 15-foot tall dinosaur inhabitants.

Almost 100 people turned out for the official opening at the farm, which was led by Isaac Kirkwood-Ayres, the winner of the farm's Junior Jurassic Genius competition.

Isaac had beaten off a host of other youngsters to prove himself the biggest dino fan and, in the process, won a year-long free pass to visit the trail, at the farm off Tilburstow Hill Road.

Layona Bungay, the farm's visitors' services manager, said: "The dinosaurs are really good.

"The feedback has been excellent; everyone has been really excited by it.

"Today [Monday], with the weather being better, we are seeing a lot of people coming in and the children are really thrilled to see the dinosaurs."

The new residents – which include a mastodon and triceratops – came to Godstone on lorries after their previous home in Berkshire closed.

The Dino Trail is open to the public, but there is more to be added.

"There are water features and smoke still to go in.

"The recent rain has made getting everything in more difficult," Layona said.

The opening event also featured an appearance by the farm's mascot Dino the Dinosaur.

The new Dino Trail will be open all year round and will eventually feature roar sound effects, "prehistoric bones", cavemen figures and a children's digging area.

There will also be information boards about the creatures, their lives and how their remains were found.
